Being Antiracist in Everyday Life

This chapter focuses on what we do in our everyday lives that supports racism. A number of strategies are described. The first is that we can be intentional in claiming our identity. This is important for both whites and people of color because a patchwork quilt society depends on the gifts of all identity groups. Secondly, we can develop our sensitivity to the racism that surrounds us, Third, we can reflect on the language that we use every day. Fourth, we can learn about our history and work on telling the truth about racism today and in the past. Fifth, we can intentionally engage with our neighbors and avoid racial isolation. Finally, we can intentionally look for ways that we can participate in ending racism.
